Believe it or Not?
This page explores the techniques used online for persuasion and how to report concerns. Through the video, students will be introduced to concepts such as disinformation, misinformation and fake news and learn how various media can be used to influence and manipulate others.
This activity is aimed to promote critical thinking in line with the competencies from the UKCIS Education for a Connected World framework. Students will:
- explore agendas and motivations used by extremists
- evaluate digital content
- learn to make choices about who and what is trustworthy online

All activities can be customised and used as standalone lessons or incorporated into existing plans for assemblies, lessons and schemes of work. They have cross-curricular relevance and facilitate a whole-school approach, in line with RSHE guidance and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
